Utah Trip!!!: Part Two, Idaho

After landing in Salt Lake City, my aunt took us to Lava (per my request) to show me around where her and my mom grew up.

Alrighty, Welcome to Lava Hot Springs Idaho.

Here is a volcanic-like structure.

And now on to the real reason why we made the drive all the way to Idaho (okay 2 hours).

This House.

Yep, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a cellar. This is where my mom grew up and where my grandmother lived for a long time. It used to have a white picket fence, but it was no longer there. A lot of the homes that my aunt remembered from her childhood were vacation rentals. How weird is that. She could pay to stay in her old bishop's home for the summer.

Well, anyway, I took about a million pictures. I kept waiting for the owners to come out and yell at me, but no one ever did. :) Good thing too. The house looks amazing! So much so that we wondered it it too was a rental. Hmm.. still not confirmed.

Anyway,

This is the hospital where my mom was born.

My aunt says she, herself, wasn't born here because the doctor here was drunk so they drove her mom to another city with a sober doctor. Haha! It is now a hotel...

Now this house is my great aunt's. She still lives there, so we stopped by. She is like 90 something and when we caught her, she was mowing her lawn. Silly lady!

I took pictures of all kinds of houses, but I can't remember now who they belonged to. My aunt will have to tell me later. Whoops!

Now, This.Is.The.Place.

The Silver Grill Cafe.

My Grandfather and his brother (late husband of before mentioned great aunt), ran the Silver Grill. My mom worked there for them. It is now something like Joe's Restaurant, but my aunt said that the counter looks exactly the same. We went in and had cream soda and pie. It just seemed like the right small town thing to do.

And, in the way of sampling, this is what most of my pictures looked like. Cameron drove while I snapped pictures and aunt Veloy sat in the back and told us what we were looking at. It was our own personal driving tour.

This is the shed next to the milk man's house where he bottled milk for all the people before delivering it.

The hill where my mom and aunt and uncle would sled down in the winter.

The trout farm that my mom took us fishing at when we would visit grandma.

After driving a while, we stopped at this little museum that used to be a bank.

We also did some shopping and got all of us some Lava memorabilia. haha.

It was an enjoyable day in Lava and I am glad we went. Next time, to the famous natural hot tubs and the giant Lava Pool.

Trip to Utah!!!: Part One

In celebration of my Aunt Veloy's big 6-0 and retirement, we made a trip up to Utah. Here is the first leg of the trip.

Jakey's First Flight!

We had to walk on the tarmac to get to our little plane. Not quite propeller propelled, but almost. Oh well, the price was right.

Jake entertained himself by playing with the tray table and eating a safety pamphlet. (Sorry US Airways...)

Oh, and eating snacks.

Eventually he gave in and fell asleep. Just in time for landing.

Immediately after landing, we grabbed some food and were on our way to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. (More on that in a later post.)

But, on the way there we stopped in Tremonton to see Cameron's sister, Jaeleen, her hubs, Zach and their kids.

Found that out going 75mph down the highway. :0

Camping... Yes, Again.

We spent Labor Day weekend... you guess it!... CAMPING!

3 camping trips, 4 weeks. Kind of intense, I have to admit.

So, I never got a picture of Jayna and Matt or Cary and Stina or Spud and Emily... and I feel bad, but! I do have this little gem. I snuck up and took it from far away with my telephoto lens! Haha. Cutting firewood is serious business.

So is hanging a giant covering from the rain. Oh, and remember, it has to be tall enough to not to vent out fire smoke.

Busy Busy

Did you miss me? I have really missed my blog! Things are kind of busy here right now, but give us a couple weeks and things will calm down. Who am I kidding!? Things will always be busy. So, give me a couple weeks and I promise I will have learned to better manage my schedule! I have started CNA school at RSAA institute in Mesa. I am entering my second of three weeks. I have to get up so early... yuck! I can't wait to be all done and certified. Whoot!

Several weeks ago, Cody got to come play with Jake.

I had to get some pictures, 'cause they were so cute together. Cody is just a week younger than Jake. Aww... Too bad Jakey kept beating on him. I had to keep grabbing him to prevent injury. Sorry Tenille!

I don't know what Jake is doing, but I thought it was funny.

Did I share this picture already!? Jake LOVES the dog's water. I find him splashing in it all the time. Cam and I have put up some pretty intense barricades to keep him out, but he always finds a way. This day in particular, I just let him go at it. Then, when he and the floor were completely soaked and the water was gone, I cleaned him up! :)

Camping with the Copa Commune

This trip's post has been delayed since I have been waiting for pictures to accompany it. Well, in the meantime, Melinda posted her version of the same trip. She described it all so well, I am sending you to her blog to read about it. :)

Some highlights you wont want to miss:

1) Rain.

2) Pulling Jonathan's tent poles when he wouldn't get up in the morning! :)

3) Watching some hawks dive into the lake.

4) Hatchet throwing.

5) Running out of propane and cooking over the fire... in the rain.

6) Random street party (started by us) when traffic came to a complete stop for 15 minutes on the way home.

It was AWESOME! I can't wait until next year to do it all again.
