What We're Up To.

This is us as of late.

Jake is really interested in my camera. As soon as I get it out, he stops whatever cute thing he is doing and runs towards me in hopes that I will let him push some buttons.
We were goofing off this day, hence my scary eyes. Isn't it cute, though?

This is what happens when the camera gets taken away.
We know this face well here at 18 months old.

That's okay. He LOVES our play kitchen.
He is very serious about food prep.

Awww. A puppy intermission.

We've been garage sale-ing.
One of our favorite things to look for are Mega Blocks.
These are our newest additions getting a bath.

Jake thinks they're more fun like this than as building blocks...

See the happiness?

And this is why they say you should watch your kids around water, even if they aren't IN water.
Yeah, He slipped in head first and Cam grabbed him. :) I took pictures.

This week was also Jake's first date. Carrie lives down the street and Cam baby sat. He took this picture of the two lovebirds watching Toy Story and sharing snacks. Awww.

Major cut his paw. Cam and I make a good vet team. It is all healed up now. Can you see the wrap job on his back foot?

Speaking of kitchens... I have been having Jake "help" me in the kitchen.

Tonight he made this very fine tower.

and then when I was done with my very gourmet meal of spaghetti and corn, we had a mommy-son dinner date. He loves sitting up to the table.

and he loves spaghetti.

That's what we're up to!

Family Outings

Since I am working our family time is severely limited, so we have been trying to make the very most of every moment we get together.

(Sorry for all the pictures. I have no idea how to cut back.)

Several weeks ago we went to Jump and Shout (scratch that) whatever-that-place-is-called-now...

A good time was bad by all. :)

Then, just this week, we went to The Children's Museum of Phoenix.
I have been wanting to go for a while...

Jake loved the car wash, but only if we pushed him through.

I think the noodles won as the favorite toy of the day.

but these chimes were right up there.

It was fun! The museum really made me want to have a huge playroom! :)

Sick Day

Jake has been sick since Friday.

He has spent most of his days sleeping and watching Elmo...

like this.
How does he do that? Crazy Kid.

And then, today when he was feeling a bit better... he decided that he liked spraying himself in the face with a water bottle.
This isn't a new thing, but today I got some great action shots.

Oh to be 18 months.

BTW:
Jake at 18 months is
24lb 9.5oz (30%)
and 32.5 inches tall (50%)

Today would have been his first official day in nursery, but alas Jake was taking a sick day. :)

Some New Toys

Last weekend I got an urge to go garage sale-ing and I am glad I did too...

We picked up some great stuff.
Jake makes baskets (slam dunks, really) in the hoop repeatedly now on his own.
And this car (which is still in my house) is definitely a favorite.
He likes to find his toy keys and pretend to start it up.

This chair is not a yard sale find, but I have been meaning to share.
Jake has his own camping chair. It is pretty fun to see him sit in.
Bring on the S'mores!

And, Drum Roll Please....
This is Mom's new toy.
$5! It is metal and the x's and o's are magnetic.
We already hung it on our wall near our giant dominos.
Whoot!

Ward Camp Out

Oh man, probably two weeks ago now, we traveled to Camp Lo Mia for our ward camp out.
It was cold at night. Very cold. But, during the day it was warm and sunny and I took a million pictures for you all to see! Put on your excited face and scroll!

Down by the "river".

Cam was the fire master for the group meal and fireside chat.

Carrie loved the dirt, and so she shared.

Jake's dirty face.

He ate two pieces of watermelon.
He would have eaten the rind if I wouldn't have stopped him.

This cute family,

and some more friends were there,

including these two,

and this guy.

Jake was feeling domestic.
(I made his fruit loop necklace, which he loved!)

I played with my new camera lens,

while these two guys enjoyed the great outdoors.

And on the way home, I wished for just a second that I wasn't a mom.
**I know what you all are thinking. How could I take a picture of my poor boy in this moment of distress? Well, the camera was already on my lap and we had to find a good place to pull over so I just did. Like a good mom. Don't judge.

This is the way...

we brush our teeth

before we go to bed.

Yeah, the towel gets really wet, but oh well.
It is all in the name of oral hygiene.

Mother's Day Recap

Mother's Day was great here. It was full of this little guy...

Breakfast, flowers, chocolate,

and gifts. :)

These pics are the first ones I took after opening up my new camera lens!
(I might have squealed...)

Love that boy and his daddy is pretty awesome too.
