Rocket Launching Competition
We have a tradition now that every year we compete in some event for the ownership of this wood stump trophy thing (I wish I had a picture.) Upon winning, the winner must proudly display said trophy in a prominent place in their home until the next year's gathering. Last year was air hockey.
This year's competition was paper rocket launching.
You build any rocket using only paper and tape and then launch it using an air compressor set at 85 psi. The furthest flight (best out of 3) wins.
Anyone wanna play!? We can set it up pretty easily.
Everyone competing with their rockets.
Karlie won, by the way.

Our rockets.
Two days prior to the big competition, we all got in some practice at the resort:
Rocket Building 101.
Wrap the tube in paper and seal the top good!
Fins and a tip are optional.
Talking important aerodynamics and trajectory and such.
My dad with crazy hair.
This is so funny to me because he is very particular about always being put together.
At any rate, he was quietly watching all of us kids making rockets.
Then, on competition day, he showed up with a solid rocket made of duct tape.
We were all using scotch tape.
We never said what kind of tape...
Hey guys! This is supposed to be fun for the kids!
Setting up the launch site.
Father and Son.
I really liked this shot in particular.
